Yi 360 VR is a $399 consumer-oriented 360-degree camera


If the $16,999 Yi Halo VR camera was aimed at Professionals and filmmakers, than Yi Technology has a new compact sized 360-degree camera for everyone called Yi 360 VR.

The Yi 360 VR camera is capable of shooting professional-grade video quality at up to 5.7K at 30fps in 360 degrees. It uses a pair of 220-degree lenses mated to a pair of 12MP SONY IMX377 CMOS sensor, and an Ambrella VR SOC H2V95 chip to stitch the footage together. It can also captures 5.7K 360-degree still photos as well.


The camera also features up to 100Mbps high-speed WiFi 802.11ac to let users live-stream 2.5K/30fps 360-degress video to Facebook, YouTube or other live-streaming platforms. However, it provides only one hour of battery life.

It is compact and lightweight at 170g, and is easily mountable and can easily fit your pocket or bag. There's a YI 360 VR mobile app, that lets you control the camera, preview, playback, edit and share 360-degress from smartphone.

The Yi 360 VR camera is priced at $399 in the US, and will have a limited release in June.
