Xiaomi launches the Redmi 4 in India, price starts at Rs. 6,999
Last month Xiaomi launed the Redmi 4A in India, and now it is launching another mid-range and affordable smartphone in the country called Redmi 4. It comes as the successor to Redmi 3S, which is the highest online-selling smartphone in India, with 40 lakh units shipped within just nine months of release.
With Redmi 4, Xiaomi is again, giving you top-notch specs, at the price it is being offered, which is one of the reason for its success in the country. It's worth mentioning that, the Redmi 4 is originally the Redmi 4X, which was introduced in China in February.
Xiaomi is offering the Redmi 4 in three confirguration: 2GB RAM/16GB storage for Rs. 6,999, 3GB RAM/32GB storage for Rs. 8,999 and 4GB RAM/64GB storage for Rs.10,999 in two color options, Gold and Black.
In terms of specification, the Redmi 4 feature 5-inch HD 2.5D curved glass display and is powered by 1.4GHz octa-core Snapdragon 435 processor coupled with Adreno 505 GPU, and packs a beefy 4100mAh battery. The storage is expandable via microSD card.
The camera department includes 13MP f/2.0 rear camera with PDAF, and an LED flash, and 5MP f/2.2 selfie camera. For connectivity, it gets hybrid dual-SIM slots (SIM+SIM or SIM+microSD card), 4G, VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. Software-wise, it runs MIUI 8 based Android Marshmallow. There's also fingerprint scanner at the back.
The Redmi 4 first sale will take place offline at the newly opened Mi Home in Bengaluru on May 20, the day, the store opens to public. Interested buyers can pre-book the Redmi 4 via Mi India website, by paying a token amount of Rs. 1,000. It will also be available online at Amazon India and Mi.com starting May 23.
