nubia Z17 goes official with Snapdragon 835, 8GB RAM
The highly anticipated flagship from ZTE sub-brand nubia is finally official and it's a monster. Dubbed nubia Z17 is packs top-end features that is yet to make its way to 2017's flagship device. It comes with a bezel-less screen, dual-rear cameras, Qualcomm's top end processor and a massive amount of RAM.
The nubia Z17 sports a premium build flaunting metal body and is splash proof as well. It also has very slim bezels on the left and right side, but the top and bottom have regular bezel, so don't expect the screen-to-body ratio to be impressive as Xiaomi's MIX, Samsung's Galaxy S8 or LG's G6.
It packs a massive 8GB RAM, making it the second smartphone in the world to pack that much memory after Asus' ZenFone AR. The performance is handeld by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform, which is an octa-core processor clocked at 2.4GHz and is paired with Adreno 540 GPU. Interestingly, the nubia Z17 takes the crown to be the first smartphone to feature SD835 and 8GB RAM.
Another highlight is the dual-rear cameras comprising of 23MP sensor and a 12MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture, 2x optical zoom and 10x dynamic zoom and autofocus speeds of just 0.03 seconds. Both are assisted by dual-tone LED flash.
The nubia Z17 has 5.5-inch Full HD display and will be offered in three configurations: 6GB RAM/64GB storage, 6GB RAM/128GB storage and 8GB RAM/128GB storage.
Connectivity options on-board include NFC, 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, GPS, USB Type-C port and Infrared sensor. Unfortunately there is no 3.5mm audio jack, so you'll have to connect audio accessories through USB-C port or Bluetooth. However it comes with stereo speakers.
Software-wise it runs Android Nougat based nubia UI 5.0 and comes with built-in NeoSmart AI engine, which learns usage patterns of users to offer suggestion. It is fueled by 3200mAh battery, that supports Qualcomm's Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging technology.
The nubia Z17 prices start at CNY 2799 ($411 | Rs. 26,500) for the base 6GB RAM/64GB storage variant. The 6GB RAM/128GB storage versions costs CNY 3399 ($499 | Rs. 32,000), and top end model 8GB RAM/128GB storage carries a price tag of CNY 3999 ($587 | Rs. 38,000). It comes in Black With Gold, Gold, Black, Blue and Red colors, and will go on sale in China starting June 6.
