Galaxy S8 Active press shot surface again, specs confirmed
Over the weekend, Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S8 active surfaced in press render, which showed the side profile of the device. Now Android Police has outed new renders (more on their website) of the Galaxy S8 Active. The photos come from Samsung employee training manual for the Galaxy S8 Active and also reveals the specs, that's in line with the leaked slides that surfaced last week.
The render again confirms that Galaxy S8 Active will have a bezel-less display, like the Galaxy S8, but will not have curved edges. Instead the display is flat, and it looks more like the LG G6. The home button and rugged physical keys below the front display are getting the axe. It also has a dedicated button for accessing Bixby at the side, and fingerprint scanner at the back.
In terms of specifications, the Galaxy S8 Active is same as Galaxy S8, but comes with a military grade body (MIL-STD-810G endurance rating) and a bigger 4000mAh battery instead of Galaxy S8's 3000mAh battery. The display will be shatter resistant for up to five feet on a flat surface.
It will also be bulkier and thicker than Galaxy S8, given the additional rugged feature. It will still have IP68 rating, making it water and dust resistance.
The specs of Galaxy S8 Active include 5.8-inch QHD Super AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection, Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform, 4GB RAM, 64GB expandable storage, 12MP/8MP cameras (rear and front) and NFC. It will ship with Android Nougat.
The Galaxy S8 Active will come in Meteor Gray and Titanium Gold and will be heading to U.S major carrier AT&T.
