Jide pulls the plug on Remix OS; shifts focus to enterprise market

Jide's Remix OS is an Android based operating system designed to run on PCs, just like Microsoft's Windows OS. The company has now announced that it will discontinue consumer edition of Remix OS for PCs as well as recent consumer products like Remix IO media box/mini PC gaming console, as it aims to focus on the enterprise space.

The company will be restructuring their approach to Remix OS away from the consumer space, and put in efforts to focus solely on the enterprise space moving forward.

The first Remix OS product was the Remix Ultratablet, that was announced in 2014, followed by Remix Mini PC in 2015, and Remix IO and IO+ in 2016. Jide also expanded the Remix OS platform to Nexus 7 and Nexus 9 tablet as well. Even India based device maker iBall partnered with Jide to launch the Slide Brace-X1 4G tablet in the country. The production of all these products will be discontinued as well as Remix OS for PC.

Anyone who made a purchase from Jide's official store or backed Remix IO/IO+ on Kickstarter will be refunded. The refunding process will begin August 15.

Jide on their official blog post stated:

"Over the past year, we received an increasing number of inquiries from enterprises in various industries, and began helping them build great tools for their organizations by leveraging Jide software and hardware. We see huge potential in the role that Jide can play to revolutionize how these businesses operate. And given our existing resources, we decided to focus our company efforts solely on the enterprise space moving forward."

"We’ll be restructuring our approach to Remix OS and transitioning away from the consumer space. As a result, development on all existing products such as Remix OS for PC as well as products in our pipeline such as Remix IO and IO+ will be discontinued. Full refunds will be issued to ALL BACKERS via Kickstarter for both Remix IO and Remix IO+. In addition any purchases made via our online store that has remained unfulfilled will also be fully refunded. This requires no action from you as we will begin issuing refunds starting August 15th."
