New leak reveals chipset of the upcoming Nokia 2, 7, 8 & 9
HMD Global launched the mid-range Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 back in MWC 2017. Out of the three, the Nokia 3 is available for purchase in India, while the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 will go on sale by mid-August. That said, the company has confirmed that it will launch more smartphones in the second half of 2017 including a flagship device.
Now a list of upcoming Nokia devices along with the processor to be used have been detailed in a new leak. If true, it appears that Nokia is preparing a device for every consumer segment starting with the entry-level to high-end.
Starting with the entry level segment, there will be one device and it will be fitted with either a Snapdragon 212 chip or MediaTek processor (name unknown). The mid-tier category includes Nokia 7 that will utilize Snapdragon 630, and the Nokia 8 will be equipped with Snapdragon 660. The premium flagship Nokia 9 will utilise Qualcomm's top-of-the line Snapdragon 835 processor.
For reference, the already released Nokia 3 uses MediaTek MT6737 chip, while the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 are powered by Snapdragon 430 processor.
In a nutshell this is the list of all Nokia Android smartphones (launched & upcoming) and the processor in use:
Nokia 2 – Snapdragon 212 / Mediatek processor
Nokia 3 – Mediatek MT6737
Nokia 5 – Snapdragon 430
Nokia 6 – Snapdragon 430
Nokia 7 – Snapdragon 630
Nokia 8 – Snapdragon 660
Nokia 9 – Snapdragon 835
Unfortunately the specs of the unreleased Nokia devices are not yet known, except for the Nokia 9. To recall, earlier a report suggested that Nokia 9 will pack Snapdragon 835 chip. Additionally, it also revealed the device will have 5.3-inch QHD display, 6GB/8GB RAM variants, 64GB inbuilt storage, dual-camera setup and Android 7.1.1.
Nokia is yet to reveal when it will announce the Nokia 2, 7, 8 & 9, but with IFA 2017 approaching, we can expect the devices to be unveiled at the event.
