Samsung Galaxy S8 Active surface in render
Samsung's upcoming rugged smartphone Galaxy S8 Active (SM-G892A) is expected to launch in the coming weeks, and thanks to various leaks we already have an idea what the device will look like and offer. Now press render of the device has hit the interweb courtesy of Evan Blass.
The render shows the side profile of Galaxy S8 Active and shows the bezel-less design. However the display will be flat instead of having curved on the sides like the Galaxy S8. Also the device has no physical home button like the Galaxy S8, so the fingerprint scanner will be on the back. It will also have a dedicated button for Bixby and an iris sensor at the front. The Active button is getting an axe.
The Galaxy S8 Active will be water and dust resistance thanks to IP68 rating, will have a military grade case (MIL-STD-810G) to resist drops and schocks, and shatter resistant display, making it exteremely rugged and durable.
In terms of specifications, the Galaxy S8 Active will have the same hardware as Galaxy S8, except for the battery capacity.
It will feature 5.8-inch QHD Super AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection, Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform, 4GB RAM, 64GB expandable storage, 12MP/8MP cameras, and run Android Nougat out of the box. It will be fueled by a 4000mAh battery instead of 3000mAh used by Galaxy S8.
The Galaxy S8 Active will come in Meteor Gray and Titanium Gold and will be heading to U.S major carrier AT&T.
