Acer upgrades Switch 5 laptop, Spin 5 convertible with 8th generation Intel processor
Acer is giving its Swift 5 laptop and Spin 5 convertible an upgrade to the new 8th generation Intel Core quad-core processor.
First the Swift 5 is a light-weight laptop made of sophisticated selection of materials including ultra-light magnesium-lithium alloys for the top and bottom cover, and magnesium-aluminum alloys for extra sturdiness on the palm rest area. It weighs less than 1kg.
The Swift 5 features 14-inch Full HD IPS touchscreen display, and can be configured with up to a Core i7-8550U processor, up to 16GB RAM, and up to 512GB PCIe SSD.
Acer says it promises up to eight hours of battery life and has support for WiFi 802.11ac and Windows Hello via fingerprint scanner. It also features Acer's TrueHarmony with Dolby Audio Premium technology.
The Acer Swift 5 will be available in North America in December starting at $999; in EMEA starting at €1,099; and in China in November starting at ¥7,499.
Next is the Spin 5 convertible with a 360-degree hinge that lets users use the device as tablet or laptop or in display or tent mode. It comes 13-inch and 15-inch model, and both supports Full HD touch display, 8th generation Intel Core quad-core processor, up to 16GB RAM, and optional Acer Active Stylus.
The 13-inch Spin 5 offers 13 hours of battery life, while the 15-inch model promises up to 10 hours of battery life, and gets an option for NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics.
The Acer Spin 5 will be available in North America in September with both the 13-inch and 15-inch models starting at $799; and in EMEA in September with the 13-inch model starting at €899 and the 15-inch model starting at €999.
