Google Is Now Rolling Out August Security Patch Update To Eligible Pixel, Nexus And Android Over Devices, Factory & OTA Images Available
Google releases a new security patch on the first Monday of every month. Since today marks the first Monday of August, Google has commenced the rollout of the August security patch for the eligible Pixel, Nexus and Android One devices.
- Nexus 6P: N2G48C
- Nexus 5X: N2G48C
- Nexus 6: N8I11B, N6F27I
- Nexus Player: N2G48C
- Nexus 9 LTE: N4F27K
- Nexus 9 Wi-Fi: N9F27H
- Pixel C: N2G48C
- Google Pixel/Pixel XL: NJH47F, NHG47Q (Verizon), NZH54D (Deutsche Telekom), NKG47S (T-Mobile, Fi carriers, and Rogers)
As has been the tradition, this month's security patch is divided into two levels.
- 2017-08-01: Partial security patch level string. This security patch level string indicates that all issues associated with 2017-08-01 (and all previous security patch level strings) are addressed.
- 2017-08-05: Complete security patch level string. This security patch level string indicates that all issues associated with 2017-08-01 and 2017-08-05 (and all previous security patch level strings) are addressed.
Nexus, Pixel and Android One devices will be receiving the August 5 patch. The Android Security Bulletin has been updated with the info of the August patches. Various vulnerabilities ranging from moderate to critical have been addressed in this update. Google has mentioned that it isn't aware of any exploits of the addressed vulnerabilities.
The August patches will be available on AOSP within the next 48 hours. You can expect your favourite custom ROMs to soon integrate these patches into their next builds.
If you are using an unmodified Pixel, Android One or Nexus device, then you can expect an OTA notification of the update to reach you soon. You can also update your device manually with the help of the factory and OTA images linked in the source below.
