LG V30 will feature 32-bit Advanced Hi-Fi Quad DAC; will offer more customizable audio options
After detailing the display, software and camera features of V30, LG has now revealed yet another major feature of the upcoming flagship. According to LG, the V30 will have 32-bit Advanced Hi-Fi Quad DAC, which is built on Hi-Fi Quad DAC, that was first introduced on the LG V20.
While the original H-Fi Quad DAC emphasized delivering Hi-Fi sound as close as possible to the original source by minimizing distortion and white noise, Advanced Hi-Fi Quad DAC offers more customizable options. The Advanced Hi-Fi Quad DAC is powered by ESS Technology's SABRE ES9218P, and gets two new features: digital filters and sound presets.
Digital filters are normally available in expensive digital audio players, but can soon be experienced on the V30. It improves the pre- and post-ringing of the impulse response that can be customized to personal tastes. As for the sound presets, it will give users more control over the quality of audio through four optimal pre-programmed settings: enhanced, detailed, live and bass. As a result, even with ordinary headsets, users can experience much of the high-quality audio enjoyed by listeners using expensive headsets.
The Hi-Fi Quad DAC controls left and right audio signals separately, adjusting balance in such detail that listeners will feel as if they are standing in the center of a concert hall. LG has managed to cut the distortion rate down to 0.0002 percent, which results in less information lost when converting digital data into an analog waveform.
The V30 will also features a technology from LG's partner MQA Ltd. that facilitates high-res audio streaming. The will allow the V30 to combine Quad DAC with MQA technology for high-res audio, when streaming, without the need to download huge files.
In addition, LG V30's HD Audio Recorder features the capability to use the audio receiver of the phone simultaneously as a microphone (Receiver-as-a-Mic or RAM). As a result the V30 will be able to record a wider dynamic range of sounds without distortion.
Lastly, LG said that it continues it close partnership with B&O Play, to refine the V30's audio capabilited. Like the V20, the upcoming V30 will also come bundled with B&O Play earphones.
LG has already confirmed that the V30 will sport 6-inch QHD+ OLED FullVision display with 18:9 aspect ratio, for a bezel-less design, and will ditch the signature secondary screen. The display will be protected by Gorilla Glass 5, and the phone will support HDR 10 and Google's Daydream VR platform. The dual-camera will boast f/1.6 aperture and glass lens, for improved low-light camera performance and deliver better color reproduction. It will ship with Android Nougat with UX 6.0+ on top.
The LG V30 will break cover on August 31 at IFA 2017, Berlin.
