Moto G5S & Moto G5S Plus lands in India, price starts at Rs. 13,999

As promised, Motorola has launched the Special Edition of the Moto G5 family in India. The Moto G5S has been priced at Rs. 13,999, while the dual-camera toting Moto G5S Plus is well priced at Rs. 15,999. Both will go on sale starting tonight exclusively on Amazon India. The Moto G5S will be available at Moto Hub offlines stores as well.

The Moto G5S line up are upgraded model of Moto G5 family featuring bigger display, improved cameras and an all metal unibody design, crafted from a single piece of high-grade aluminum instead of metal & plastic. They run Android 7.1.1, support 4G VoLTE, NFC and have fingerprint scanner and dedicated slots for microSD card and dual-SIMs hybrid dual-SIM slots.


Speaking of Moto G5S Plus first, it boasts dual-camera setup, with two 13MP units (one color sensor, and the other black-and-white sensor), just like the Moto Z2 Force. The dual-cameras offers features like capturing depth information for bokeh effect, background replacement, and make select part of photo black-and-white. For selfies it gets an LED assisted 8MP wide-angle shooter.

Other specs include 5.5-inch Full HD display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection, octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage and 3000mAh battery.

The Moto G5S on the other hand is a toned down version featuring 5.2-inch Full HD display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection, Snapdragon 430 processor, 4GB RAM, 32GB internal storage and 3000mAh battery. The camera department includes 16MP f/2.0 PDAF assisted rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, 1080p video recording and 5MP f/2.0 selfie camera at the front with a dedicated flash unit.

As for the color options, the Moto G5S comes in Lunar Gray and Fine Gold hues, while the Moto G5S Plus in Lunar Gray and Blush Gold colors.

Considering the specs and price, the Moto G5S Plus will be competing with the likes of Lenovo K8 Note, Honor 8 Lite, nubia Z17 mini and Nokia 8 in the sub Rs. 17,000 segment. However, Moto G5S Plus have the benefit of a better specs sheet on paper compared to the rest.
