New Pixel 2 leak shows the phone's large front bezels
Over the weekend, render of the smaller Pixel 2 surfaced, giving us the first look of the device, and now real-life photo of the device has hit the interweb. The new photos corroborate with the earlier leaked render, and does not reveal anything new.
From the images, one can make out that the smaller Pixel 2 will sport huge bezels on top and bottom, same as the first Pixel phone, which is a bit disappointing, given that most of the high-end flagship this year like Samsung Galaxy S8, LG G6, Huawei's upcoming Mate 10 and iPhone 8 are adopting to bezel-less design. That said, the bigger Pixel XL 2 is said to have a bezel-less design.
Moving to the back, the glass window has been reduced and houses a single camera sensor with dual-LED flash, and the fingerprint scanner is now housed on the metal area. Sadly the 3.5mm audio jack is also getting an axe, however, it will feature stereo speaker at the top and bottom.
According to the source, the Pixel 2 feels much better in hand compared to last year's Pixel phone. Note that the phone seen in the image are dev units, so it might get some design tweaks before the official release.
Previous reports have suggested that the Pixel 2 will feature squeeze-sensitive frame, a tech that was used on HTC U11. This is for a feature called Edge Sense, and will let you squeeze the sides of the phone to interact with it or perform actions.
The Pixel 2 line is expected to be unveiled sometime in October.
