Samsung outs Android Nougat for Galaxy S5 Neo
The Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo was launched two years ago running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, and later received Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update. Now surprisingly, the South Korean tech giant is rolling out another major software upgrade to the Galaxy S5 Neo in the form of Android 7.0 Nougat.
The update is being rolled out over-the-air and comes with firmware version number G903WVLU1CQH4. Currently, the update is available in Canada, but it should expand to other regions in the coming days. If you've not yet received the update notification, you can always check for it manually by going to Settings > About Phone > Software Update.
To recap the specs, the Galaxy S5 Neo is a toned down version of Galaxy S5 featuring 5.1-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, Exynos 7580 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB on-board storage, 16MP/5MP camera and 2800mAh battery. It is also IP67 water and dust resistance, and includes a fingerprint scanner.
Android Nougat is most likely to be the last major software upgrade for the Galaxy S5 Neo, as it has almost reached its EOL (end of life) status, so don't expect update to Android 8.0 Oreo.
