Xiaomi India schedules September 5 event: dual-camera toting Mi 5X expected

Xiaomi is all set take the Indian smartphone market by storm once again with a new dual-camera toting budget device. The company previously confirmed that its next smartphone offering for India will have dual-cameras. And now the China based device maker has announced that the launch of the device will take place on September 5, at an event in New Delhi, India.

While Xiaomi has not mentioned, what the device will be, it is most likely to be the Mi 5X, which was first introduced in China in July. The Mi 5X has the same pair of dual-cameras, as the flagship Mi 6.

The dual-camera boasts of two 12MP sensors — one with a f/2.2 aperture wide-angle lens and other with a f/2.6 aperture telephoto lens offering portrait mode and background blur assisted by dual-tone LED flash and PDAF.

As for the other specs, it comes with 5.5-inch Full HD display, Snapdragon 625 Mobile Platform, 4GB RAM, 64GB expandable storage, 5MP front shooter, dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE and 3080mAh battery.

It features premium metal unibody build, and the design has a striking resemblance to that of iPhone 7 Plus or OnePlus 5. It runs Android Nougat based MIUI 9, and also has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The Mi 5X is priced around Rs. 14,000 in China, and it'll be interesting to see, whether the India pricing is same or higher. We will get to known more next Tuesday. Xiaomi will also live stream the event as well.
