Xiaomi India sells 25 million smartphones
Xiaomi has hit yet another milestone, as part of its dream run in the Indian market. The Chinese device maker has announced that it has sold more than 25 million smartphones in the country, since its debut back in July 2014 with the Mi 3. This figures translates to a whooping 22,000 devices sold per day in the last three years. The company claims that its smartphone brand was the fastest to cross the 25 million mark.
It crossed one million sales mark in December 2014, with just Mi 3, Redmi 1S, and Redmi Note, and reached three million milestone in September 2015. Since then it has set and broken several record in the country thanks to the Redmi Note 3, Redmi 3, Redmi Note 4 (specially), Redmi 4 and their variants, which sold in big numbers. The phones boast decent specs and are price very low compared to the competition.
The company which started as an online-only brand, in recent times has been aggressively expanding offline. Last year through select partners it started selling some of its device offline, and most recently, it opened Mi Home physical stores in India. Currently there are three such stores, two in Bengaluru and one in Delhi-NCR region, and Xiaomi plans to open 100 more in the next two years.
As a result, Xiaomi is now the second best smartphone brand in India just behind Samsung, and globally it is placed in the top five. Now all eyes are on the September 5 event, where the company is going to launch its first dual-camera offering for the Indian market.
