In order to combat Reliance Jio, Airtel has announced a new data heavy plan designed for heavy data consumers, under which the teleco is offering 4GB of 3G/4G data per day for Rs. 999 for 28 days.
The Rs. 999 plan is available for Airtel's prepaid customers, and to check if your number is eligible for the plan, go to Airtel's recharge portal and enter your number. Then go to 'Browse Packs' section and select 'Internet' as sub-category on the desktop website. The offer can also be availed from My Airtel app.
The plan also offers unlimited local and STD calls, however, under the Terms and Conditions section, Airtel mentions that the calls are capped at 250 minutes per data and 1,000 minutes a week for both STD and local calls. Once, you exhaust the limit, on-net calls will be charged at 10p, while calls to other network will cost 30p.
In addition, customers who purchase the Rs. 999 plan via Airtel Payments Bank will get 50 percent cash back.
Reliance Jio also has a Rs. 999 pack, which offers 1GB data per day and unlimited local and STD calls to all networks for a period of 90 days. Even though the data offering is less, there is no FUP on voice calling.
