Airtel’s new prepaid plans starts at Rs. 5 and goes as high as Rs. 399
Reliance Jio has shaken the telecom industry to the roots with its free launch offer, and ultra-affordable data and combo plans, since its inception. As a result incumbent telecom operator have been coming up with new affordable plans to prevent their subscriber from jumping ship.
That said, Airtel has introduced new voice and data plans for its prepaid customers starting from Rs. 5 and going as high as Rs. 399, to compete with Reliance Jio.
The Rs. 399 pack offers unlimited local and STD calls along with free outgoing roaming calls. The pack has a validity of 28 days, and gives you 28 GB of data with 1GB daily FUP limit. This pack can be availed only by Airtel's 4G customers, and it’s on-par with Jio’s prepaid pack of Rs. 399.
The Rs. 349 pack offers 4G users 1GB data for 28 days (28GB data), along with unlimited STD and local calls. While the company calims the calls are unlimited, there's a cap of 250 minutes per day and 1,000 minutes per week, and after exhaustion you'll be charged at 10 paisa per minute to Airtel calls, and 30 paisa per minute for calls to other networks. Airtel's Rs. 349 pack directly competes with Reliance Jio's Rs. 349 pack. Jio offers 20GB of 4G data for 56 days (10GB/28 days, 10GB/28 days) along with unlimited calls and SMSes.
The Rs. 295 pack, offers unlimited local and STD Airtel calls for 84 days. Customers can also avail 10 percent cashback on opening Airtel Payments Bank account.
With the Rs. 198 pack, Airtel is offering unlimited local and STD calls with 1GB data for 28 days. Also customers can avail 10 percent cashback on opening Airtel Payment Bank Account.
Airtel's Rs. 149 pack gives users unlimited on-net (Airtel to Airtel) calls and 2GB of 4G data. It has a validity of 28 days.
The Rs. 30 recharge will offer talktime of Rs. 27 with unlimited validity. Likewise, the Rs. 40 pack will give 35 minutes of talktime, Rs. 60 pack gives 58 minutes of talktime, and Rs. 99 will offer talktime of 88 minutes. All the packs have unlimited warranty.
The Rs. 5 pack is a one-time recharge, and offers 4GB of 3G/4G data for 7 days. However, there's a catch. To avail the plan one needs to upgrade their Airtel SIM to a 4G SIM. There's another pack of Rs. 8 in the same range that gives local and STD mobile calls at 30 paise per minute for 54 days. Lastly the Rs. 15 pack givers local voice calling at 10 paise per minute for a duration of 27 days.
It's worth mentioning that the price and benefits of these pack may differ from user to user and circle to circle.
