Apple TV 4K with 'cinematic quality' video, HDR announced


Apple has announced its next generation Apple TV. The new streaming box gets a new 4K model, and brings advancements in image quality with HDR and Dolby Vision, along with powerful internals, to deliver sharp, crisp images, richer, more true-to-life colors, and far greater detail in both dark and bright scenes for a stunning cinematic experience.

The new Apple TV 4K is powered by a three-core A10X Fusion chip, the same used on iPad Pro, delivering twice the performance of previous gen Apple TV, and up to four time the graphics performance. 

Apple will sell 4K HDR video contents through iTunes, for the same price as HD content. And the company says iTunes users who have purchase HD titles will be automatically upgraded to 4K HDR version for free. In addition Apple is working with popular streaming services like Netflix and Amazon to bring their HDR shows to the Apple TV 4K.

It  also comes with Live sports function which notifies users when their favorite sports team is playing, as well as shows all the teams, leagues and sporting events currently playing through a dedicated Sports tab.  Apple is also giving the Siri Remote a redesign with a new new white circle around the "menu" button.

As for the pricing, the Apple TV4K starts at $179 for 32GB variant, and $199 for the 64GB variants. It will be available for pre-order from September 15 and shipping will begin September 22.
