Huawei Maimang 6 arrives in Thailand and Malaysia as nova 2i
Huawei recently introduced Maimang 6, the company's first smartphone to flaunt near bezel-less design and four cameras in China. It is expected to head to the European market sometime in November under a different moniker called Mate 10 Lite.
However, before that is about to happen, the Maimang 6 has been launched in Thailand and Malaysia under another different name called nova 2i. Besides the name change everything else including the phone's design and hardware remains the same.
Just like the Maimang 6 the nova 2i features 5.9-inch Full HD+ FullView display, octa-core Kirin 659 processor, 4GB RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. It has dual camera at the back (16MP+2MP) and front (13MP+2MP). Both front and rear cameras have dedicated flash units and can measure depth of field to create bokeh like effects in potrait shot. A 3340mAh battery runs the show.
Other features include full metal body, hybrid dual-SIM slots, 4G VoLTE, NFC and fingerprint scanner. It runs Android Nougat based EMUI 5.1 out of the box.
The Huawei nova 2i has been priced at RM 1,299 (Rs. 20,000 | $307) in Malaysia and will go on sale starting October 13. In Thailand the nova 2i costs 10,900 Thai baht ($327 | Rs. 21,000). Color options include Graphite Black, Prestige Gold and Aurora Blue for Malaysia, and Titanium Grey and Prestige Gold for Thailand.
The prices are slightly lesser than that of China's Maimang 6 (CNY 2399 ($364 | Rs. 23,600)). In Europe it will reportedly carry a price tag of 379 Euros ($455 | Rs. 30,000).
