[UPDATE: OTA Images] Android Oreo Is Being Rolled Out To Pixel & Nexus Devices, System Images Available
UPDATE September 1, 2017
Google has posted the OTA images for the Oreo update. The OTA images can be found here. The OTA images will allow you to manually upgrade your Nexus or Pixel device to Oreo via ADB.
The original post follows...
Google just announced Android Oreo. In its blog post, Google mentioned that the Nexus and pixel devices will be getting the Oreo update "soon." While writing the previous post I believed that the update would roll out within the coming days but it turns out that Google has already commenced the roll out.
The devices which are getting the Android Oreo 8.0 update include:
- Google Pixel
- Google Pixel XL
- Pixel C
- Nexus 6P
- Nexus 5X
- Nexus Player
The update is being rolled out via OTA and since the update is being rolled out in phases it might take some time to reach your device. You will be notified about the update when it is available for your device. You can check for the update manually by heading over to Settings > About phone > Check for update.
In addition to the OTA rollout, Google has also released system images of the update for the Pixel and Nexus devices. This means that if you have a Nexus or Pixel device with an unlocked bootloader then you can update your device manually to Android 8.0 by flashing the system images. The system images have to be flashed via ADB and the links for the images can be found in the source linked below.
