Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 goes official with 5.99-inch bezel-less display

The Xiaomi Mi MIX was one of the  most eye-catching devices of last year, thanks to its futuristic looking bezel-less design. Now the company has made its successor official. The Mi MIX 2 has been designed by notable French designer Philippe Starck and has even more slimmer bezels than the Mi MIX. It has zero bezels at the top and edge, and the bottom chin's bezel has been reduced by 12 percent than its predecessor. While the Mi MIX had a screen-to-body ratio of 87 percent, the Mi MIX 2's screen-to-body ratio is a whooping 95 percent.

Just like Mi MIX, the main components of Mi MIX's front panel like ear piece, sensors, speaker and camera has been designed to fit the bezel-less design. It sports a ceramic body and uses Cantilever piezoelectric ceramic acoustic system that allows the sound to be delivered by the screen for calls. It also has hidden sound guided speaker with 50W high power speaker and sound guided tube, and ultrasonic proximity sensor on the top. The front facing camera is located at the bottom chin, and is slightly smaller than the one found of Mi MIX.

The Mi MIX 2 is not only eye-catching, but is also more very powerful in terms of performance boasting Qualcomm's top-tier chip and up to 8GB RAM.

The Xiaomi Mi MIX features 5.99-inch Full HD+ AMOLED with 18:9 aspect ratio. It is equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform, 6GB/8GB RAM and 64GB/128GB/256GB internal storage.

The camera department includes a 12MP Sony IMX386 camera with f/2.0 aperture, 4-axis OIS, dual-tone LED flash and 4K video recording. The selfie shooter on the front is a 5MP sensor. In addition to the rear mounted fingerprint scanner, the Mi MIX 2 gets 3D facial recognition for id-ing the face to unlock the device.

For software, the Mi MIX 2 runs Android 7.1 Nougat based MIUI 9, and for connectivity supports 4G LTE (including support for 6 modes and 43 bands), WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and USB Type-C. It  is fueled by 3400mAh battery, and supports fast charging via Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging.

Coming to the pricing the Mi MIX 2 is priced at CNY 3299 ($506 | Rs. 32,000) for the 6GB RAM/64GB storage model, CNY 3599 ($552 | Rs. 35,000) for the 6GB RAM/128GB storage model and CNY 3999 ($613 | Rs. 39,000) for the 6GB RAM/256GB version. The 8GB RAM model will be available on special edition of Mi MIX 2.

There are two special edition models sporting full ceramic body. One is in Black color and the other one in White, and both come with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The special edition version carries a price tag of CNY 4699 ($720 | Rs. 46,000).
