Huawei confirms Android Oreo for P10 and Mate 9 series
Huawei's new flagship Mate and Mate 10 Pro runs Android 8.0 Oreo based EMUI 8.0 out of the box. Now the company has revealed which other devices will get the new software.
Huawei has confirmed that the P10, P10 Plus, Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro will get Android Oreo based EMUI 8.0.
It further mentioned that Mate and Mate 9 Pro will get Android Oreo in three to four weeks after Mate 10 series hits the market, while the P10 and P10 will get the update in the near future. It's worth mentioning that Huawei will soon start public beta test of Android Oreo for Mate 9.
Android Oreo will brings features like picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode, notification dots, revamped quick settings panel, smart auto-fill, smart text selection and more.
The EMUI 8.0 UI is said get fewer visual changes, meaning it will look like EMUI 5.0 with no major changes. However, there will be some under the hood incremental changes. Huawei claims that the performance of EMUI 8.0 has been improved by 12 percent resulting in faster app opening and improved system and battery performance. Additionally, Mate 9 will not get Mate 10's real-time smart scene recognition features, but some other AI functions.
Lastly, Huawei also promised to push security patches every three months to mid-range phone, and every month for flagship devices.
