Micromax, Vodafone launch Bharat 2 Ultra at effective price of Rs. 999
To take on Reliance Jio's Jio phone, Indian telecom operators are teaming up with domestic device makers to launch affordable handsets bundled with voice/data benefits.
Just recently, Micromax teamed up with BSNL to launch 4G VoLTE capable Bharat 1 feature phone. Now it has striked a similar partnership with Vodafone to launch the Android powered Bharat 2 Ultra 4G smartphone at an effective price of Rs. 999. Again there's a catch.
You'll have to pay Rs. 2899 (Rs. 999 + Rs. 1900) upfront, with Rs. 1,900 going towards deposit and recharge your Vodafone number for a minimum of Rs. 150 per month over a period of three years. The recharge of a minimum of Rs 150 per month is a must.
If you maintain this schedule, the deposit will be paid back to you in two installments. After the first 18 months you'll get cashback of Rs. 900, and after the next 18 months, you'll receive the final Rs. 1,000 refund. Vodafone will deposit the Rs. 1,900 cash back into your M-Pesa wallet.
Speaking of the phone, the Micromax Bharat 2 Ultra is a low-end offering featuring 4-inch 800 x 480 pixels WVGA display, 1.3GHz quad-core Spreadtrum SC9832 processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, 2MP/VGA cameras and 1300mAh battery.
Furthermore, the dual-SIM offering runs Android Marshmallow and supports 4G VoLTE, WiFi and Bluetooth for wireless connectivity.
The Micromax Bharat 2 Ultra will go on sale in November.
