MIUI 9 Global Stable To Be Released On November 2 Along With A 'New Series' Smartphone
Come Thursday, Xiaomi India will be unveiling a 'new series' smartphone along with the release of stable version of Global MIUI 9. Xiaomi is building up the hype to the November 2 launch event by using the hashtag #YourBestSelfie on Twitter. Xiaomi has also designed a website for the purpose of promoting Thursday's event. The website hosts a contest wherein users have to upload their best selfie and state a reason as to why they think their selfie stands out of the competition. The winners of the contest will be invited to the launch event. The 'new series' smartphone is henceforth targeted at selfie obsessed users.

Apart from hashtags, Xiaomi has been sharing several teasers of the upcoming smartphone. The teaser you see above suggests that the 'new series' smartphone won't belong to either the Mi Note or Redmi Note series. We can therefore expect the smartphone to be a new iteration of the Redmi series or be a new series entirely.

Xiaomi shared another teaser this afternoon. The teaser showcases Xiaomi's Vice President Manu Kumar Jain working on preparations for Thursday's launch event. As a part of the preparations, Jain is seen deliberating with his colleague on which picture of popular Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif should they use. This seemingly suggests that Katrina Kaif will somehow be a part of the event, maybe as a brand ambassador.
In addition to the launch of a new smartphone, Xiaomi will also be releasing the stable builds of MIUI 9. Xiaomi's obsession with hashtags continues here as well. The company is promoting MIUI 9 to be #LightningFast. MIUI 9 comprises of several new features such as split-screen mode for multitasking, new icons, animations and more.
