HTC will build dual-camera phones again starting 2018
Most of the flagships phones in 2017 has dual-cameras and bezel-less design. That said, with the latest U11+, HTC went bezel-free, but sticked with single camera.
However, with dual-camera now becoming a standard feature in entry-level, mid-range and premium smartphones, it looks like HTC wants a piece of the action.
HTC has confirmed that it is all set to make a comeback in the dual-camera phone photography segment.
At the sidelines of the U11+ launch event, HTC President Chialin Chang revealed that HTC is working on a dual-camera smartphone, which it will release next year 2018.. Chang was quoted saying "We'll definitely be releasing a dual-camera phone next year, buit we'll need to figure out how make this feature stand out."
To recall HTC was one of the first device maker to implement dual-camera technology on smartphones: HTC EVO 3D, but due to the poor implementation it did not succeed. Moreover, the HTC One M8 and One M9 Plus also rocked dual-camera, which focused on the bokeh effects. However, HTC went back to improve the main camera, and came out with Ultrapixel technology, which has received positive response from the critics.
Unfortunately nothing much is known about HTC's upcoming dual-camera phone, but we can expect it to stand out from the rest, because HTC's smartphones have always been praised for its camera performance.
