NVIDIA Shield Tablet gets KRACK fix and November 2017 security patch
The Android powered NVIDIA Shield Tablet is picking up an update that arrives in the form of Software Upgrade 5.3.
The update brings fix for the KRACK and Broadpwn WiFi vulnerability and bumps the security patch level to November 5, 2017. Additionally the update also brings fix for connectivity issues with Zagg Bluetooth keyboards, along with general stability and other security optimizations.
Here's the full changelog from NVIDIA:
The Shield Tablet Software Upgrade 5.3 is available for both Shield Tablet and Shield Tablet K1 now.
- Addresses Wi-Fi vulnerabilities (KRACK and Broadpwn)
- Fixing connectivity issues with Zagg Bluetooth keyboards
- Overall system stability and security optimizations
- Update to Android Security Patch Level November 5, 2017
NVIDIA has already confirmed that both tablet will not get Android Oreo, and stay on Android Nougat. This is no surprise given that the tablet is three year old and reached its EOL (end of life) status. However, the company is said to be working on a new Nougat based update, but the release date is not known.
