Xiaomi Launches Redmi 5A In India Starting At Rs 4999

 

Xiaomi announced the Redmi 5A last month in China and the #DeshKaSmartphone has now been launched in India. As compared to its predecessor - the Redmi 4 - the Redmi 5A includes only two changes in the software and battery capacity.

The Redmi 5A has a battery cell of 3000mAh as compared to the 3120mAh battery on the Redmi 4. The Redmi 5A runs Xiaomi's custom Android skin of MIUI 9 on top of Nougat 7.1.2. The Redmi 4 currently runs MIUI 8 based on Marshmallow, but will be updated to MIUI 9 in Decemeber.

The rest of the specifications (and the pricing) are similar to the Redmi 4. We have summarised the specifications below. The Redmi 5A will be available in three colours - Rose Gold, Champagne Gold and Platinum Silver (the image above shows the different colours in the order they have been mentioned). The 5A will be available in two variants. The base model has 2GB RAM with 16GB internal memory and the higher model has 3GB of RAM with double the internal storage at 32GB. The 5A will start selling on December 7 and will be available online on Flipkart and Mi.com. The phone can also be bought offline from Mi Homes and partner retail outlets. The base model is priced at Rs 5999 and the higher model costs Rs 6999. For a launch exclusive offer, Xiaomi has said that the first five million units of the base model will be sold at a one thousand rupees discount and can be bought for Rs 4999.
