Xiaomi Redmi 5, Redmi 5 Plus with 18:9 display launching in China on December 7
Xiaomi has announced that it will introduce Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus in China on December 7. The phones have been subjected to numerous leak for quite some time. It was spotted in TENAA, and just recently, was found listed on China Telecom website's database. And thanks to the listing, the specs sheet is no mystery.
Much like other Redmi phone, the Redmi 5 will be a budget phone, but it is getting a major design change in the front. The phone will have a higher screen to body ratio, which means the bezels on all the sides will be trimmed down. This means the phone will have a large screen with 18:9 aspect ratio, and a rear mounted fingerprint scanner.
Speaking of the specs, as per China Telecom listing, the Redmi 5 will have 5.7-inch HD+ 1440 x 720p display, octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, 12MP/5MP cameras and 3300mAh battery. We can also expect 2GB/32GB and 3GB/32GB models to be released as well.
It will run Android Nougat based MIUI 9, and support dual-SIM slots and 4G VoLTE. Color options listed are Blue, Rose Gold and Black. Details about Redmi 5 Plus is scarce, but it can be expected to pack a larger battery.
The Redmi 5/Redmi 5 Plus official launch is just a week away, so we'll get to know all the official details soon.
