[Update: X Performance Too] Xperia XZ and XZs Are Now Onto The Android Oreo Track

Sony had confirmed in September that it will be updating the Xperia XZ and XZs to Oreo. The Japan based company is now seeding Oreo to the two devices. The update includes various features introduced with Oreo like smart text selection, autofill and picture-in-picture mode.

The update comes in with the build number 41.3.A.0.401 and is bulky in size weighing 1.2GB. If you own a Xperia XZ or XZs, you would be getting an OTA notification of the update shortly.  Apparently, support for Project Treble is missing in this update. Sony is yet to be confirm whether it will be supporting Treble for its devices but all the other Oreo goodies are present in this update with Sony exclusive features on top of it. The various camera goodies which the Xperia XZ Performance got with it's Oreo update last month haven't been extended to the Xperia XZ and XZs.

Speculations are rife that the Xperia X Performance will be getting its Oreo update within the next couple of weeks. This is the first time in Android's history that devices which aren't maintained by Google are getting major Android upgrades so quickly. The Nokia 8 started getting Oreo only yesterday and the OnePlus 3 and 3T were upgraded to Oreo last week. OEMs who heavily modify stock Android with their own skins on top of it usually take longer to update their device. Although Sony uses a customized skin on top of stock Android, the company has still managed to deliver fast updates to its devices. Cheers to Sony for speedy software updates!

Xperia X Performance is getting the Oreo 8.0 update too. Both the single and dual SIM variants are getting the update which has the build number 41.3.A.0.401. The update size is 1.25GB.
