Beta Oreo update for Xiaomi Mi A1 now available
The Mi A1 is Xiaomi's first Android One offering for the Indian market, and shipped with stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat. It was promised to get Android Oreo later this year, and last week, Xiaomi started recruitment process for Android Oreo beta testers via Mi Community India, as well as MIUI Global Forum.
Now Xiaomi has officially started testing Oreo for the Mi A1, as it has pushed the beta build over-the-air to eligible beta testers.
The Oreo beta update weighs at 1.1GB in size, and also include December Android security patch along with native Oreo features like Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode, notification channels, adaptive icons, notification dots, smart text selection, Autofill API and more.
As for the official Oreo release, once Xiaomi has quashed the bugs, and made the build stable, it will be rolled out to the public, which is likely to happen towards the end of this month or in early January 2018.
To recollect the Xiaomi Mi A1 is currently one of the best smartphone available in the market in the sub Rs. 15,000 segment. It is currently up for grabs at Rs. 13,999 in Black, Rose Gold and Gold hues, and offers features like 5.5-inch Full HD display, Snapdragon 625 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, hybrid dual-SIM slots, 4G VoLTE, USB Type-C, fingerprint scanner and 3080mAh battery.
It comes with dual-camera setup at the rear consisting of two 12MP sensor, one with wide angle lens, and the other with telephoto lens. Both work together to deliver portrait shots. For selfie you're getting 5MP shooter on the front.
