Fourth Oreo beta out for Galaxy S8/S8+; Oreo beta program expands to India, China, Spain, France, Germany and Poland
Samsung has released Android Oreo beta 4 for the Galaxy S8 and S8+. To recap, Samsung started beta testing Oreo for both devices, in the beginning of last month, and since then has pushed two more beta builds till date. This is the fourth.
The fourth Oreo beta for Galaxy S8/S8+ arrives with the build number ZQL8 and weighs at 850MB, which is larger than the previous two beta. It brings December Android security patches and improved Bluetooth stability.
It also includes a slew of bug fixes, related to excessive battery consumption, phones freezing for more than five seconds, random vibrations, Sync errors with Samsung Cloud and pictures not appearing in the gallery.
The fourth beta is currently rolling out to UK and US users. According to reports, the Galaxy S8/S8+ prompts users to wipe the data on their device after installing the update, so make sure you have backed up important data.
In separate news, Samsung has expanded the Android Oreo beta program to more countries. As a reminder, the program kicked of in markets like South Korea, the U.S and UK in the first phase. In the second phase, the beta program is live in markets like India, China, Spain, France, Germany and Poland. And Samsung has already pushed the Oreo beta firmware to the Galaxy S8/S8+.
Galaxy S8/S8+ users in India, China, Spain, France, Germany and Poland can register for the beta from the Samsung Members app. Once the registration process is complete, they can download the Oreo beta build by tapping on Download updates manually in the Settings » Software update menu.
The Android 8.0 Oreo beta for Galaxy S8 weighs at 1.4GB download, so make sure you're connected to a WiFi network. As for the official Oreo release, it is expected to take place in late January 2018 or February 2018.
