[Massive Deal Alert] Google Pixel 2 & 2 XL Will Be Available Starting At Rs 39,999 On Flipkart's Big Shopping Days

Come Thursday, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will be selling like hotcakes. Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart will be slashing the prices for both the Google flagship devices by over a quarter in the upcoming three day sale of Big Shopping Days.

The smaller of the two devices - the Pixel 2 - has a price tag of Rs 61,000 while the Pixel 2 XL costs Rs 72,000. Starting the midnight of December 7, Flipkart will be selling the two devices at a flat discount of Rs 11,001 with a further Rs 10,000 discount on using a credit or debit card of any bank. To save you time, I have done all the math. If a credit/debit card is used, the effective discount evaluates to Rs 21,001, which is 34.4% of the price of the Pixel 2 and 28.7% of the Pixel 2 XL's. On clubbing the flat discount and the credit card discount offer, the price for the base models of the Pixel 2 and 2 XL comes out to be Rs 39,999 and Rs 51,999 respectively.

The story doesn't end here. Flipkart is also offering monetary discounts of up to Rs 18,000 in exchange of an old smartphone. This puts the Pixel 2 in the price bracket of the OnePlus 5T whose base model costs Rs 32,999. It shouldn't therefore come as a surprise that Flipkart is touting the Pixel 2 against the OnePlus 5T in its promotions for the Big Shopping Days.

If you were to ask for my pick among the Pixel 2/2 XL and the OnePlus 5T, I would go for the Pixel 2/2 XL. The Pixel 2 has a way better camera and it will be getting major Android updates for the next three years (meaning updates till Android R). OnePlus, as we know, isn't the best when it comes to updates. The OnePlus 5T was launched with Nougat (and is yet to be upgraded to Oreo) while the second generation Pixel devices are powered by Oreo out of the box.
