Prepaid data war: Vodafone India now offers 1GB data per day for 28 days at Rs. 199

After Airtel, Reliance Jio and Idea Cellular, it's now Vodafone India's turn to offer per day data on its entry-level plan. The telecom operator has revised its Rs. 199 prepaid tariff plan to match the current benefits offered by rivals Airtel, Jio and Idea's Rs. 199 plan.

Vodafone's new Rs. 199 tariff plan now offers 1GB data per day for 28 days, which makes it a total of 28GB of high-speed data for the entire month. In addition the plan offers the usual benefits such as unlimited voice call in home and roaming circles and 100 SMS per day for 28 days.

However, Vodafone's plan is a bit disappointing as it has capped the unlimited voice calling. The voice calls are limited to 250 minutes per day and 1200 minutes per week. Also customers can call a maximum of 300 unique numbers in a seven-day period. If the limit is exhausted calls will be charged at 30 paise per minute.

By comparison Airtel and Idea are offering 1GB data per day for 28 days, while Jio is giving 1.2GB data per day for 28 days on the the Rs. 199 plan. All are also offering unlimited voice calling including home and national roaming (without FUP) and 100 SMS per day.

Alongside the revised Rs. 199 tariff plan, Vodafone has also introduced FRC plan of Rs. 229. This plan is applicable for only new customers who are looking to join Vodafone's network through Mobile Number Portability (MNP) or as a new customer. The benefits are similar to Rs. 199 plan.

So with FRC 229 plan, new Vodafone customers will get 1GB 4G/3G/2G data per day, 100 SMS per day and unlimited voice calls for 28 days. Do note that, this tariff plan is valid on all 2G, 3G and 4G handsets.

Vodafone's latest Rs. 199 and FRC Rs. 229 plan is available across all Vodafone 4G circles.
