Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+ 'unlikely' to be showcased at CES 2018
Samsung's upcoming flagship the Galaxy S9 and S9+ were rumored to be showcased at CES 2018, Las Vegas in January. Samsung however has trashed this rumor, which means we won't get a sneak peek of the Galaxy S9 line on the first week of January.
The South Korean tech giant in a statement to Korea Hearald has dismissed the speculation saying it is unlikely. Instead the company is expected to stick with the tradition, and introduce the Galaxy S9 around MWC in late February or March. For reference, the Galaxy S8/S8+ were launched at a special event in New York City on March 29, 2017.
Another rumor that was buzzing round the internet was the Galaxy S9/S9+ will have in-display fingerprint scanner. But in the report, Samsung has dismissed the speculations saying it is unlikely.
According to earlier reports the Galaxy S9/Galaxy S9+ will get minor upgrades over its predecessors. Both will flaunt the same design as Galaxy S8 line, but the rear panel will undergo incremental changes. While the fingerprint scanner on Galaxy S8 was placed on the right side of the fingerprint scanner, in the Galaxy S9, the sensor is said to be placed under the camera module.
Usually Samsung's both flagships are differentiated by screen size and battery capacity. But with Galaxy S9 the differences extend to RAM and camera setup.
Just like Galaxy S8/S8+, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will have 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch Super AMOLED Infinity display with slim bezels on the side. They will be powered by Snapdragon 845 and Exynos 9 series 9810 chips depending on the region. However, the Galaxy S9 will have 4GB RAM and single camera at the back, whereas the Galaxy S9+ will ship with 6GB RAM and dual-cameras.
Both models will come with 64GB internal storage, microSD card slot, 3.5mm audio jack and AKG-powered stereo speakers.
