Xperia XZ, XZs, X Performance & Galaxy Note 8 Get February Security Patches

Sony updated the Xperia XZ, XZs and X Performance to Oreo 8.0 last year. After the CPU vulnerabilities of Spectre and Meltdown were uncovered last month, Sony updated its supported devices with patches for the vulnerability. According to Sony, the January 5 security patch was meant to secure the devices of Spectre and Meltdown. The Xperia XZ, XZs and X Performance were updated with the January 1 security patch, instead of the January 5 one, meaning that the trio of devices weren't patched for the CPU vulnerabilities.

Sony is now rolling out the February 1 security patch to the three devices, thus securing them of the vulnerabilities. All the three devices are receiving a 120MB update with build number 47.1.A.12.75.

Samsung has already secured its devices of Spectre and Meltdown. The company recently updated the Galaxy S8 and S8+ to Oreo 8.0 with the February security patch. Samsung is now rolling out the February patch to the Galaxy Note 8. The build number for the update is N950FXXS3BRB3.
