ZTE Announces Oreo Beta Program For Axon 7 With Weird Eligibility Requirements
A lot of OEMs have lately been embracing the trend of beta programs for testing out Android version updates. The benefits of such programs are twofold - the users get to test out bleeding edge software and the OEM gets direct feedback on their software. Based on the feedback, the software can be attuned to meet the requisite demands of the users and bugs can sorted out at a quicker pace (since there are more eyes, that is testers, to watch out for the bugs) making the software stabler.
ZTE Germany announced in December last year that the Axon 7 will get its Oreo update by April 2018. In the light of Oreo for the Axon 7, ZTE has now launched a beta program for which it is recruiting testers. To be selected as testers, users have to fill out a Google form. Some of the entries asked for in the form are rather dubious. For example, ZTE wishes to know how proficient it's testers are in Spanish. Another entry in the Google form asks the candidate whether they are "willing and able to provide at least 1 hour per day to engage and provide feedback." Interested users also have to tell ZTE why they would "be a reliable and qualified candidate for this beta test."
Lastly, the candidates should own the US variant of the Axon 7 and should be running the latest official build (build number - B35). If you meet up to these conditions and are interested in trying out Oreo on your Axon 7, you can fill out the Google form by clicking here. ZTE have stated in their forum post that since Oreo for the Axon 7 is in early stages, only a small group of testers will be recruited to begin with Once Oreo gets stabler, more testers will be recruited.
