Bootleggers ROM 2.1 Brings New Customizations, OTA Updater & More

The folks behind the newly formed project Bootleggers have released the first update of their ROM. Based on Oreo 8.1, Bootleggers ROM uses the work of Ground Zero Open Source Project (GZOSP) as it's foundation and builds on it with several enhancements to the user interface.

Bootleggers 2.1 has a "musical" codename - Calma. As the name suggests, 'calma' is a Spanish word which means to stay calm. According to the Bootleggers team, calma is the apt codename for the new release of their ROM since with Bootleggers 2.1, the team has applied "a break" (in other words 'calmed') on addition of more features. Bootleggers 2.1 instead focuses on squashing bugs and making the ROM more organised and stable.

Below is the list of changes made in Bootleggers 2.1 over 2.0:

 * Moved QS Brightness Silder to the bottom (due to the big amount of people asking for it)
 * Fixes and tweaks on logos, navbar and features enabled
 * Added our QS tile for our dumpster and tweaked the default qs selection
 * Added left statusbar clock so you can choose between right, center and left
 * Battery Styles
 * Rotation degree configurable and various pattern options
 * Switched from Lawnchair to a fork of Lean Launcher called Shishu 家 Launcher 
 * Incall vibration
 * Ticker animation (scrolling or fading)
 * OTA for official devices and a bit of more info on the dumpster
 * Fixes for omnistyle padding and added a new incredible header pack by nataliaasolange
 * Added insulter, just... don't... tap the build number after you enable dev settings...

If you are after a complete list of features in the ROM, you can find it here. As mentioned before, Bootleggers is a new project and currently only seven devices are supported with official builds. More devices will be supported officially in the future.

At the time of writing this article, Bootleggers 2.1 was available for three (Redmi Note 3, Redmi 3S, Moto G5S Plus) out of the seven supported devices. Official builds of Bootleggers 2.1 will soon be available for the Yu Yuphoria, Lenovo Vibe K5/Plus, Redmi Note 4/4X and Moto E 2015.
