HMD Global Starts Testing Oreo 8.0 For Nokia 3, Nokia 2 To Follow Soon

Barring the Nokia 2 and Nokia 3, HMD Global has updated all its devices to Oreo 8.0. The Finnish company is now working on the Oreo update for the Nokia 3. HMD Global's Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas has announced that the Nokia 3 has been added to the Nokia Phones Beta Labs (which is HMD's beta program for testing out Android updates on Nokia devices).

Interested Nokia 3 users can try out Oreo on their devices by signing up for Nokia Phones Beta Labs. For registering, users will have to enter the IMEI number of their device, so that HMD can validate that you do own the Nokia 3. Once that's been verified, you will get a notification of the beta update within twelve hours. The update size is a mammoth 1.7GB and it has the build number V3.220.

Sarvikas has stated that beta testing of Oreo for the Nokia 2 will begin within the next couple of weeks. The Nokia 2 will directly be updated to Oreo 8.1, instead of Oreo 8.0. This is because several memory optimizations were introduced with Oreo 8.1 for Android Go devices and HMD will be making use of these optimizations in the Oreo update for Nokia 2. The Nokia 2 is a low end device with 1GB RAM and Snapdragon 212.
