iYTBP Is Now YouTube Vanced, Updated With Togglable Black/Dark Theme, Cast Button Remover & More
YouTube mod Injected YouTube Background Playback, better known as iYTBP, has been rebranded to YouTube Vanced. The first release of Vanced is based on version 13.07.55 of the official YouTube application.
Being a mod, Vanced has several features which the YouTube application doesn't offer to everyone. The complete list of features in Vanced is as follows:
Features:
- Works with with and without root
- Blocks all YouTube ADs (some options are togglable)
- Background playback feature
- Force VP9(or HDR) or vice versa
- Override Max Resolution
- Pinch to Zoom on all devices
- Casting togglable (can be forced off)
- Togglable Theme (White/Dark/Black)
- PiP (Oreo Only)
- Video window new or old style
- Repeat video feature
- Preffered Resolution & Speed feature
- New logo
Feature options in Vanced |
There are a couple of known bugs. Preferred speed and quality don't work for playlists, and several components of Vanced aren't themed black/dark (that is when the black/dark theme is selected).
As compared to v12.49.55, Vanced 13.07.55 adds togglable black/dark theme, preferred speed, cast button remover and HDR forced brightness toggle.
Dark theme in YouTube Vanced |
You can switch from light to black/dark theme (and vice versa) on the fly, that is there is no need to restart Vanced. Personally, I found the black theme to be better since it was lighter on the eyes during nighttime. After using mods as such, I end up wishing for Google to have included the dark theme within Android and its applications. But given that the dark theme was there in developer previews of Marshmallow and Nougat, and wasn't included in the final release, my hopes keep diminishing.
For download links and installation instructions, please refer to the link in the source. Vanced is available in two variants - rooted and non-rooted. The former variant requires root access to be installed, and has the package name similar to that of the official YouTube app. If you use the rooted version, you can apply Substratum theme overlays to Vanced just like you would on the official YouTube application. The non-rooted variant has a different package name, and would additionally require MicroG to login into Google. YouTube Vanced is further classified into two more variants on the basis of the theme - dark theme and black theme. In both the variants, the light theme is enabled by default, and the other theme variant can be enabled from Settings > Vanced Settings > Layout Settings.
