OnePlus 6 Confirmed To Have A Glass Back
We are inching closer to the launch of OnePlus 6 and OnePlus has been building on the excitement by slipping tidbits of information about its upcoming flagship. We already know that the OnePlus 6 will have the Snapdragon 845, up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. In a forum post yesterday, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed that the 6 will feature a glass back.
Lau wrote that the OnePlus 6's glass design is aimed at "creating a sense of value and premium hand feel". The OnePlus CEO claimed that the company tested over 70 glass prototypes before finalizing on the best one. The OnePlus 6's glass back will have five printed layers of Nanotech Coating, which according to Lau is a first for the smartphone industry.
Because there is a glass back, there might be support for wireless charging, but Lau didn't touch upon that.
Lau also posted a design sketch for the OnePlus 6. The sketch shows the antenna lines and the placement of the volume keys on the right side of the phone.
Reputed leaker Evan Blass had previously shared a picture (image atop) showcasing the back of the OnePlus 6. The design shown in Lau's sketch and Blass' image match, thereby verifying the authenticity of Blass' leak and adding on to the credibility of the leaker. It is worth pointing here that the textured back seen in Blass' image is a cover.
