Xiaomi Promises Android P Developer Preview For Mi Mix 2S, Then Deletes Forum Thread

In the late evening yesterday, a super moderator on Xiaomi's MIUI forums created a thread titled "Android P Preview Rolling Out For Mi MIX 2s!". Xiaomi wrote in the thread that it would release an Android P developer preview for the Mi Mix 2S "very soon, as early as May 8th tentatively." As a reminder, Google released the first developer preview of Android P last month for the Pixel smartphones.

The 500-word-plus thread mostly talked about the new features introduced in Android P. The thread didn't mention whether the developer preview will be based on MIUI 9 or stock Android, but given that the Mi Mix 2S comes with MIUI out of the box, it is likely that the developer preview will be based on MIUI 9.

Shortly after the forum thread was posted, it was taken down by Xiaomi. This raises doubts whether the Android P developer preview will even be released for the Mi Mix 2S. We have reached out to Xiaomi for a statement and will update this post if we hear back from them.
