Nokia 6.1 Emerges Unscathed In JerryRigEverything's Durability Test
JerryRigEverything, who is acclaimed for performing durability tests on smartphones, crowned the Nokia 6 as the most durable smartphone of 2017. HMD Global launched the Nokia 6.1 in January, and JerryRigEverything recently put the Nokia 6's successor to the test.
The Nokia 6.1's screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 3, and it started getting scratched at a level six. When the back, sides and buttons of the 6.1 were scratched, they were found to be of metal. The earpiece is made of wire mesh and is recessed into the phone. JerryRigEverything claims that the earpiece won't be falling out on its own after long use.
The front camera is protected by Gorilla Glass as the screen. The rear 16MP shooter is covered by an elongated camera lens which is made of glass. The dual-LED flash, though, has a covering of plastic. The fingerprint sensor worked even after it was scratched heavily.
In the burn test, the phone lasted 10 seconds after which the exposed pixels turned black. However, once the flame was removed, the burnt pixels recovered to their original form. Like its predecessor, the Nokia 6.1 didn't flex a bit in the bend test.
