In the past, running a newer Android version on a device was only possible if the source code for that version was available. The source code for Android P isn't available yet, but still, the upcoming Android version can already be run on many devices. This is a huge feat for community development.

The only known global-bug is VoLTE, but it is expected that one or the other essential feature (such as that of calling, WiFi or camera) will not work on a particular device. The bugs in the Android P port will likely differ from one device to another. The XDA forum thread linked in the source consists of information about several bugs and how to fix them. We recommend you to read the forum thread thoroughly if you plan to go ahead with the installation of the Android P beta.
