UPDATE July 4, 2018 19:56PM IST: Please refer to the end of the article for the update
Back in December, after the launch of the OP5T, OnePlus said that it won't be bringing Project Treble to the OP5 and OP5T because of the lack of a dedicated 'vendor' partition. The company said that if it tried to implement the vendor partition via an OTA update, there was a risk of the device getting bricked. OnePlus has backtracked and is now bringing Treble support to both of its yesteryear flagships.
Interestingly, for users who are using the previous Open Beta, Treble support will be added through an update. Talking about the Treble support for the OP5 and OP5T, a OnePlus staff member wrote:
It would be interesting to see the 'solution' which OnePlus has implemented. We will look into this and will keep you posted.

After several months of evaluation and hard work, we finally found a solution to make this possible, and we are very excited to share this good news with you.

The support for Project Treble makes it a lot easier for companies to update their devices. It is likely that Treble will be brought to OP5/5T running the stable version of OxygenOS. However, despite the inclusion of Treble, the updates for the OP5 and OP5T are unlikely to be prolonged. As per OnePlus' maintenance schedule, the two smartphones will get software updates till November 2019, and security patches until November 2020.
OxygenOS Open Beta 13/11 for the OnePlus 5/5T not only brings Treble support, but a slew of other changes. Here's the changelog:
System
• A brand new user interface
• Supported accent color (Settings - Display - Customization)
• Supported for Project Treble

• Improved app list for hidden space and toolbox
Phone
• Optimized logic for the contacts page
Weather

A great part of the user interface has been revamped with these beta builds. We will soon be having a post detailing the new user interface.

At the time of writing this article, OnePlus hadn't posted the download links for the new builds. However, the new builds are rolling out via OTA. If you are using any ROM other than Open Beta 12/10 (on your OnePlus 5/5T), then you will have to wipe the data and cache partitions before installing this build. Those users who are running the previous Open Beta (OB 12/10 for OP5/5T) will be able to install the new betas through the update that shows up.
