TWRP v3.2.3-0 Removes SuperSU, Improves Installation Of OTA ZIPs & More
TWRP is the most popular custom recovery in the Android community. The project last saw an update in July, and now another update has been released. With the latest release, TWRP has deprecated support for SuperSU. TWRP added SuperSU as the default rooting solution five years ago in v2.4.2.0. During its time, SuperSU was the go-to root solution for many. However, last year, SuperSU's development hit a halt. There has been no update to SuperSU since the last year, and an update from parent company CCMT (SuperSU creator Chainfire sold his project to CCMT) is nowhere on the horizon. It was about time that TWRP dropped SuperSU and with v3.2.3-0, TWRP has done just that.
The latest release of TWRP also fixes bugs with installation of OTA style ZIPs on encrypted devices and now there is support for checking both md5 and md5sum files while restoring backups.
Here is the changelog for this release:
Changelog
• Fix automatic installing of OTA zips on encrypted devices
• Remove SuperSU from TWRP
• Support both md5 and md5sum file extensions when doing MD5 checking for zip files
The downloads for v3.2.3-0 can be found on TWRP's website. You can also download the recovery images using TWRP's app. The TWRP app can also be used to update your existing recovery. Other ways to update TWRP include using fastboot or flashing the TWRP image from the current custom recovery installed on your device. For the detailed installation instructions, you can refer to TWRP's support page for your device.
