It's Official! OnePlus 6T Announced Starting Rs 37,999 With Waterdrop Notch, In-Display Fingerprint Scanner & More

Going into today's OnePlus 6T launch event, we knew almost everything about the device beforehand. Some of the features, such as the in-display fingerprint scanner, omission of the headphone jack and lack of wireless charging and IP rating, had been confirmed by OnePlus. The rest of the 6T was made known to us via leaks. The OnePlus 6T's global launch was held yesterday, and the smartphone has just been announced in India. Here's everything you need to know about the phone ranging from its specifications to its pricing and availability.

What's changed from the OnePlus 6

The OnePlus 6T is an incremental upgrade to the five-month-old OnePlus 6. The 6T betters, and in some cases you might argue worsens, in comparison to the OnePlus 6. Here is a point-wise summary of how the OnePlus 6T differs from its predecessor.

• OnePlus 6T has a larger 6.41-inch AMOLED display in comparison to the 6's 6.28-inch AMOLED panel. Both devices sport Full HD+ resolution
• The OnePlus 6T comes with waterdrop notch style which is much smaller in comparison to its predecessor
• The OnePlus 6 used Gorilla Glass 5 on both its front and back. The 6T features Corning's latest Gorilla Glass 6
• The 6T has a screen to body ratio of 86% in comparison to the OnePlus 6's 84%. The higher ratio is a result of the reduced bottom bezel
• The OnePlus 6T features an optical in-display fingerprint sensor which is slower than the rear mounted scanner on the OnePlus 6
• The battery capacity on the 6T has been increased by 12%. The OnePlus 6T has a 3700mAh battery, the biggest on a OnePlus device yet
• The OnePlus 6T doesn't have a notification LED. The OnePlus 6 has an RGB notification light
• Because of the shrunk bottom bezel, space required by the larger battery and in-display scanner, OnePlus says it has to drop the headphone jack. The OnePlus 6, on the other hand, has the 3.5mm port

Camera

The OnePlus 6T sports the exact camera hardware as its predecessor. That includes a 16MP primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture and 1.22-micron pixel size. The secondary shooter is a Sony IMX376K with 20-megapixels of resolution, f/1.7 aperture and 1-micron pixel size. The single selfie shooter is a Sony IMX371 with 16MP of resolution, f/2.0 aperture, and 1-micron pixel size.

Although the hardware is the same, the OnePlus 6T comes with a few software enhancements that will eventually make their way to the OnePlus 6. OnePlus is introducing a mode in the OxygenOS camera app that is dedicated to night time photography. Dubbed as 'Nightscape', OnePlus says the mode is meant for “low-light urban environments with improved clarity, less noise, more accurate color reproduction and better dynamic range.”

Another camera tweak that OnePlus is introducing with the 6T is automatic scene detection. As the name suggests, the camera app will automatically tweak different camera parameters based on the scene that is being photographed.
