Night Sight rolls out to Pixel, Pixel 2 & Pixel 3 with Google Camera update [APK Download]

What distinguishes the Pixel line of phones from others is the software. Since the Pixel phones are made by Google, they ship with stock Android with several exclusive features. For example, in the case of the Pixel 2, the exclusive features were the Now Playing mode, unlimited storage for Google Photos without losing storage, and Google Lens. Another area where software has helped the Pixel phones excel is the camera. Google's image processing algorithms are currently unmatched in the industry, putting the Pixel 3 way ahead of competitors. With the Pixel 3, Google introduced an array of new camera features, all powered by software. These include Night Sight, adjustable portrait blur, Top Shot, Photobooth mode, Motion Autofocus, Super Res Zoom, and Lens Suggestions. 

At the launch of the Pixel 3, Google had said that Night Sight would be activated on all Pixel devices via an update. That update is rolling out now. Google Camera 6.1.021.220943556 brings Night Sight to the Pixel, the Pixel XL, the Pixel 2, the Pixel 2 XL, the Pixel 3, and the Pixel 3 XL. As the name suggests, Night Sight makes software enhancements to the images taken in low light to make them vibrant and detailed.

The results of Night Sight are simply breathtaking. You might not be able to see anything in the camera viewfinder but once Night Sight does its magic, you will get unbelievable results as shown above. The image below shows how Night Sight is superior to the SmartHDR mode of the iPhone XS.

Although Night Sight is intended for use in low light, daylit shots taken with Night Sight produced better-looking images than the standard mode. Night Sight can be accessed both automatically and manually. Google Camera will notify you to switch over to the Night Mode depending on the scene. There is also an option in the camera application to force Night Sight.
