ViperOS Returns To The Custom ROM Fold With Oreo 8.1 Builds
The ViperOS team called it quits in July after lead developer Gustavo Campus left due to "professional reasons." After the departure of Campus, other members of ViperOS continued development under the name of ToxycOS. In a turn of events, Campus is back now and so is ViperOS.
ToxycOS has been rebranded back to ViperOS. As expected, all the maintainers and developers of ToxycOS are now a part of ViperOS. The upcoming builds of the ROM will have version number 5.0 and will be based on Android 8.1.
Informing users about their return, ViperOS wrote, "Hello users, we are pleased to announce that ViperOS is back! Yes, that's what you read, we're bringing our new version 5.0 with Android 8.1 (Oreo), a completely new ROM with a good battery life, Font Picker, Color Engine, OTA Updates and more ... release of the builds of the devices should start after November security patch, depending on the availability of the Maintainers."
All the devices that were supported by ToxycOS will get official ViperOS builds. The current device roster includes the following devices:
- Lenovo P2
- Moto Z2 Play
- Moto G3
- OnePlus 5/5T
- Galaxy J5 2015
- Xiaomi Mi6
- Redmi 4X
- Redmi Note 4/X
- Redmi 5 Plus
- Redmi 3S
- Redmi Note 5 Pro
- ZUK Z2 Plus
We will keep you posted about the future releases of ViperOS. You can follow the project on Facebook and Telegram for more information and updates.
