Xiaomi releases kernel source code for numerous devices
Xiaomi was recently in the news for not releasing the kernel source code of the Mi Pad 4 after seven months of the launch of the device. After drawing a lot of flak, Xiaomi finally posted the kernel sources for the Mi Pad 4 last week. The Chinese company has now released the kernel source code for several of its more recent devices. These include the Mi Mix 3, the Mi A2 and the Mi 8 Lite.
The kernel sources for the Mix 3 and the Mi A2 are based on Android Pie, while for the Mi 8 Lite, the kernel source code is of Android Oreo. The Mi Mix 3 runs Android 9 on the first boot, and the Mi A2 and the Mi 8 Lite were both launched with Oreo 8.1. The Mi A2 received its Android 9 update two weeks ago.
Xiaomi didn't take much time (as compared to its usual pace) in updating the sources for the Mi A2. The same is true for the Mi 8 Lite and the Mix 3. The former was announced three weeks ago and the latter was released towards the end of the October. The kernel source codes for the three smartphones along with the links of their XDA forums can be found below:
