Google Announces Surprise Pixel 9 Unveiling Event for August 13
Google has deviated from its traditional October launch schedule by announcing a surprise Pixel event for August 13, two months earlier than usual.
The company has not explicitly mentioned any devices, but the invitation hints at showcasing the best of Google AI, Android software, and the Pixel portfolio of devices. The presence of a keynote at 10 AM on the event day suggests that new devices might be unveiled.
A video teaser on the Google Store website provides further evidence, featuring the Roman numeral "IX" (9) and a URL containing the string "google_pixel_9_pro". This hints at the possibility of the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and maybe even the Pixel 9 Pro Fold being made official. The Pixel Watch 3 might also debut at the event.
Holding the event earlier than usual might be a strategy to minimize leaks, which have plagued Google's device launches in recent years.
